One of the must-see sight in Ibiza is Es Vedra.
The uninhabited rocky island, which is approximately 400 metres high, is predominantly made of limestone. It raises majestically from the mediteranean sea about 2km off the west coast of Ibiza, in the Cala d'Hort area.
Surrounded by myths and legend, Es Vedra is said to be the third most magnetic spot on the planet (after the North Pole and Bermuda Triangle) so compasses notoriously do not work when close by.
As well as its powerful magnetic energy, the island is said to radiate positive and healing powers. Kylie Minogue spent many hours sitting in front of the rock during her battle with cancer.
One Es Vedra myth is that it was home to the sirens and sea-nymphs who tried to lure Ulysses from his ship in Homer's Odyssey. Another is that it is the birth-place and holy island of the Phoenician goddess, Tanit. There has also been several UFO sightings above the island. The phospherent light that sometimes emits from the rock is said to attract the alien life from space.
Because of the special energy of Es Vedra it has become a spiritual place, popular for blessings and weddings. The only way to get up close and personal with the island is by boat. This is a truly beautiful experience which we highly recommend.
