Thursday 20th Marked the beginning of something
new in Ibiza. Over the last couple
of years we have witnessed many fabulous daytime beachside hangouts that cater
for all the senses, but it has been somewhat quieter when developing more for
the evening. What we witnessed on
Thursday night was not an imitator – or me too business, but a brand new
innovation and brainchild of a fantastic well established restaurateur and
equally successful Director of Privilege.
An unlikely (or is it?) pairing of two fully focussed
individuals Rolf Finkbeiner (Manager of El Pato for 15 years) and Manuel Lopez,
both mutual friends of former El Pato Chef Steven Sinnwell (still most
fortunately working at Novum) who admitted when interviewed by White Ibiza that
this is the start of something new and different for the Island.
And different it is.
This is a 360 degree concept, providing Novum the finest restaurant, a
sushi bar, cocktail and piano bar, exterior beautiful modernistic VIP tents for
after dinner adult schmoozing and of course a place to dance. Novum itself is beautiful, glowing
white and neon on one side while still retaining the beauty of the older
refined inner walls of Ars Vivendi for those who love things slightly more
sedate.
So what happens when 600 of the Island’s best known descend
on a Private Pre-Opening Party that proceeded a record-making Opening Weekend
(Yes – three Opening days!!!) All
exclusively guest-listed and an eclectic mix of Young(er) and Old(er), National
and International, Well Known (Locally) and Well Known (to the hosts) got
together on Thursday 20th May to celebrate its opening? Well, for sure they were all treated
absolutely royally and shown exactly what Novum IS all about this Summer.
From a sweetshop of cocktails (you named it, they made it),
to trays of Rose and White Cava, Red and White Wine, Sushi, Edamame and a
variety of delicious hors d’oeuvres down to the fat Cuban cigars – everything
complimentary to the lucky 600, it was a night of amazing generosity as we got
to experience everything that Novum had to offer, and after we danced long into
the night and wearily made our way to our waiting taxi we made our reservation
to experience it all over again (at a well worth it cost!) this forthcoming
weekend!
