The plan to transform Playa den Bossa was revealed on Tuesday afternoon in the presence of the Island Councillor for Trade and Industry, Joan Serra Mayans, the mayor of Ibiza, Lurdes Costa, and the mayor of San Jose, Josep Mari Ribas.
The principal purpose of the plan, presented under the name of SensIBiliZA, is to strengthen the tourist industry in the area, as well as introducing a new creative sector to the zone based around music.
Amongst some of the proposals are improvements to bus connections from the capital and airport, and a promenade from the capital all the way to ses Salinas.
However, the most novel part of the plan, which will take until 2020 to fully complete, contemplates the creation of a space for use by artists, students and professionals, known as Es Vivé Artist Village, dedicated to the production and creativity of new music.
The author of SenIBiliZA, David Lopez, admitted his report was in no way definitive, and that the intention was to open up a healthy debate about the way forward for the area. He added that the project would receive the financial backing of the two Town Halls involved, in addition to substantial private funding.
